IrishHistory.com is a website that is largely run by volunteers. People from all over the world contribute to our mission, driven by the belief that Irish history is rich and wonderful, to be passed on to the next generation and preserved.

Join us and help produce a rich and entertaining source of education for our visitors. In every country around the globe, readers benefit from our website. Your work will help students, teachers and members of the public learn about history, stories, folklore and enabling them to better understand the Ireland we live in today.

Whether you’re a retiree, a student, a professional or an academic; whether you work in a library, in a marketing agency, or in a university… everyone has skills that can help us! You don’t even have to leave your home to do it.


Our site is run by people who are passionate about local Irish history, and preserving the knowledge that gets passed from generation to generation. If you’d like to help out you can submit directly on the website, using one of the buttons below. It is your choice what you write about, and there are plenty of areas which you can pick. What we need

We’re looking for interesting bits and pieces from all areas around Ireland. It could be a history on a house, a story or event. We’ll update here if there’s something in particular we’re looking for.

Who can write for us?

Anybody! In the past our history, stories and fables were passed by word of mouth. Whatever your background, you could be the best person to tell a story about a local place, person or event. The best way to find out is to sit down and write an article.
