Originally built to protect the associated tower house, fragments of this fortified enclosure can still be traced through the existing farm buildings that now occupy the site. The wall’s northern section runs directly along the roadway, whilst its western portion curves back to connect with the northwest corner of the tower house itself.

Archaeological evidence suggests the bawn once formed a complete defensive perimeter around the tower house. The southeastern corner of the wall has been reduced to approximately 2.8 metres in height, matching the surviving northern section; a detail that indicates both areas were likely part of the same original structure. The wall would have connected to the castle at this southeastern angle as well, creating a fully enclosed courtyard typical of Irish tower house complexes from this period.

Today, the eastern boundary of the bawn can be traced along a modern wall that runs north to south, marking the current property line. This contemporary structure appears to follow the exact line of the original medieval wall, demonstrating how ancient boundaries often persist in the Irish landscape, even when the structures themselves have long since crumbled. The site was documented in both the Archaeological Inventory of County Louth (1986) and the Archaeological Survey of County Louth (1991), with updates incorporating more recent research findings.
