A cairn is simply a mound of stones, typically raised over a burial or as a marker in the landscape, and this one measures roughly twelve metres by nine, rising to about a metre in height. That modest scale makes it easy to overlook, yet its placement is deliberate and structured in ways that only become apparent when you look at the surrounding ground.

The cairn sits at the northern end of the interior of an oval enclosure, suggesting it was positioned with some intentional relationship to that boundary rather than simply dropped into open hillside. A second, circular cairn lies to the north, meaning the site is not a solitary monument but part of a small, spatially organised grouping. The peat that has crept across the slope over the centuries has partially obscured both the cairn and its wider context, which makes precise interpretation difficult, though the basic forms remain legible. What prehistoric community built these features, and when exactly, is not recorded, but the pairing of an enclosure with internal cairns is a pattern found elsewhere in Irish upland archaeology, where such arrangements are generally associated with funerary or ritual use during the Bronze Age or earlier.
