Enclosures
In a field in Carnaun, County Galway, there is an enclosure that no one can fully explain.
Measuring roughly 30 metres north to south and 20 metres east to west, its irregular outline sits within the north-western corner of a broader field system, and its age and purpose remain, officially, unknown. That combination, a clearly human-made boundary of some kind, embedded within a landscape of older agricultural organisation, without a date or a function attached to it, is quietly unusual in a country where most earthworks have at least a working theory attached to them.
