The townland of Pallas is perhaps better known for its tower house and associated remains, and the presence of a recorded domestic structure from the 1600s alongside these earlier buildings suggests a settlement that was actively inhabited and adapted across several centuries. A house of this period would typically reflect the transitional domestic architecture of post-medieval Ireland, somewhere between the fortified tower and the more openly planned country house, often retaining thick walls and small windows even as the urgency of defence gradually eased.
