Seven houses in total, arranged in two distinct groups roughly 200 metres apart along a northeast to southwest axis, make up what surveyors classify as a settlement cluster. The whole complex spans about 75 metres at its widest, a compact footprint that suggests a small community rather than a scattered farmstead, though whether medieval, post-medieval, or something else entirely remains an open question.

The two groups of houses are connected by a road or trackway, a worn route that extends beyond the settlement to the northeast, hinting that this place was not isolated but linked into a broader pattern of movement across the landscape. Around the southwestern group of four houses, a concentration of small fields survives, each roughly ten to twenty metres across, pressed in close to the north and east of the buildings. These pocket-sized enclosures are consistent with intensive small-scale cultivation or livestock management immediately adjacent to the homes. The whole cluster sits within a larger multiperiod field system, meaning the surrounding land carries the accumulated marks of farming activity from multiple distinct eras, layered one over another across the centuries. That the settlement itself is of indeterminate date makes it genuinely difficult to assign it to any single chapter of Clare's agrarian past, whether pre-Famine clearance, earlier medieval organisation, or something in between.
