This rath measures approximately 18.1 metres across from east-northeast to west-southwest, and 15.6 metres from north-northwest to south-southeast, creating an almost circular enclosure that once served as a fortified homestead during Ireland’s early medieval period.

The northern side of the monument retains traces of its original stone wall, which would have stood about 2.2 metres wide; a formidable barrier in its day, though now largely collapsed. The southern perimeter tells a different story, defined by a bank of earth and stone that follows the natural contours of the land. Here, the southeastern section incorporates a natural rock outcrop into its defences, with an earthen bank built up against it on the outer edge, though quarrying activities have unfortunately eaten away part of the southern side over the years.

The interior of the ringfort remains remarkably flat, a characteristic feature that would have provided level ground for the wooden structures that once stood within; perhaps a dwelling house, outbuildings, and livestock pens typical of these early Irish settlements. The strategic positioning on land that slopes southward towards the sea would have offered both defensive advantages and spectacular views, whilst the surrounding terrain, described as poor to fair pasture, suggests this was likely a mixed farming community, balancing crop cultivation with livestock rearing in the challenging but beautiful landscape of coastal Donegal.
