The site consists of a raised rectangular platform measuring 50.5 metres from east to west and 47 metres from north to south. This elevated area is clearly defined by a scarp about 1.6 metres high on the southern, western and northern sides, whilst a stone wall marks the eastern boundary. At the southeastern corner, a section of earthen bank, also standing 1.6 metres high, adds to the site’s defensive features.

The interior of the platform slopes gently downwards towards the south and has been planted with conifer trees in more recent times. These medieval moated sites were typically constructed between the 13th and 14th centuries, often serving as defended farmsteads for Anglo-Norman settlers or prosperous Irish families. The combination of natural scarps and constructed earthworks would have originally been accompanied by a water-filled moat, providing both defensive capabilities and a statement of status in the medieval landscape.
