The exact location remains elusive; despite searches of the area, no physical traces have been discovered amongst the extensive rock outcrops that characterise this rugged landscape.

The burial ground at Bun Na Toinne reflects a deeply rooted coastal custom where communities would provide consecrated ground for unknown souls claimed by the sea. These were often sailors from distant ports, victims of shipwrecks, or unfortunate travellers who met their end in unfamiliar waters. Unable to return these bodies to their home parishes, local communities took on the responsibility of ensuring proper burial, creating dedicated spaces that served as final resting places for those whose names and origins would remain forever unknown.

Today, the site exists more as a cartographic memory than a visible monument. The location point has been positioned where the name appears on the 1900 Ordnance Survey 25-inch plan, serving as a reference for this lost piece of Donegal’s maritime heritage.
