Midden, Corgannive Glebe, Co. Donegal

In the townland of Corgannive Glebe, County Donegal, archaeological remnants tell the story of everyday life from centuries past.

Among these traces is a midden, essentially an ancient rubbish heap where our ancestors discarded their household waste. Far from being mere refuse, these deposits are treasure troves for archaeologists, containing broken pottery, animal bones, shells, and other detritus that reveal what people ate, how they lived, and what tools they used in their daily routines.
