Ringfort (Rath), Templemary, Co. Cork

There is nothing to see at this particular address in north Cork, and that, in its own quiet way, is the point.
Somewhere beneath ordinary pasture on a gentle east-facing slope in Templemary lies what was once a rath, a type of circular earthwork enclosure used as a farmstead or defended homestead during the early medieval period in Ireland. It has been levelled so completely that no surface trace remains, leaving the land looking no different from any other field in the townland.
