The enclosure measures roughly forty metres north to south and forty-five metres east to west, and its boundaries are not uniform. Three sides, to the south, west, and north, are formed by an overgrown earthen bank, while the eastern side is faced with stone and pierced by the entrance gate that opens onto the laneway approach. Inside, the ground is noticeably uneven, rising towards the centre before dropping away steeply into the north-east corner, giving the whole space a slightly tilted, unsettled quality underfoot.

At the northern end of the graveyard stands the ruin of the old parish church of Macroney, a structure that gives the site its longer history even as the graveyard itself remains in active use. The earliest headstones that have been noted here date from the eighteenth century, which places the visible burial record within the period when cut stone grave markers became more common in rural Irish parishes. One detail that catches attention is the absence of any grave markers to the north of the church ruin itself, a distribution that may reflect older conventions about burial placement relative to a church building, or simply the practical limits of the ground in that corner, which falls away steeply.

The site is reached by a laneway running roughly two hundred metres from the road to the south-east. The overgrown banks and uneven interior suggest a place that sees occasional maintenance rather than intensive upkeep, so the ground underfoot rewards careful attention.
