Mayo as a county contains a remarkable density of these monuments, reflecting centuries of intensive early medieval habitation across its drumlin fields and bog margins. Whether this particular example retains its banks in good condition, has been partially levelled by later agriculture, or survives only as a cropmark is not currently known from available sources.
