Two roughly circular marks appear in the vegetation, each around four metres across, showing up as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in June 2018. Cropmarks form when buried features, ditches, walls, or pits, affect how plants grow above them; crops or grasses over a filled ditch tend to grow slightly taller or a different shade of green, tracing the outline of whatever lies beneath. Here, the marks suggest two small ditch barrows, circular enclosures defined by a surrounding ditch, a form associated in Irish archaeology with burial monuments, though barrows of this type vary considerably in age and purpose.

What complicates the picture is a cluster of similar marks appearing to the south and south-southeast of the two main features. The resemblance between these additional marks and the pair to the north raises the possibility that none of them are ancient monuments at all. One interpretation is that they represent the ghostly outlines left by small livestock feeders, the kind of circular or oval troughs and enclosures used in agricultural settings that can leave comparable impressions in the soil long after they are gone. The ambiguity is genuine and unresolved. The site was identified through Google Earth and Digital Globe imagery, with the record compiled by Caimin O'Brien from details provided by Jean-Charles Caillère, and uploaded in April 2019. No ground investigation appears to have followed, meaning the marks remain exactly what they look like from the air: suggestive, intriguing, and not yet explained.
